Mr. Jesus is 2-player card game that uses a normal deck of playing cards (without the jokers). It takes under ten minutes.
Have the highest poker-style hand when the Ace of Spades (Mr. Jesus) shows up.
Start To begin, each player draws five cards.
Round Each round, each player draws two cards, and then discard two cards of their choice. Players are aiming to build the best five-card poker hand they can.
Mr. Jesus The game ends when either player draws the Ace of Spades (Mr. Jesus). When a player draws the Ace of Spades, they must announce that they have Mr. Jesus. Both players discard their final two cards, and the hands are compared.
Win The highest poker hand wins, according to the standard ranking system (Straight flush, four of a kind, full house, flush, straight, three of a kind, two pair, one pair, high card).
If the entire deck has been drawn except for two cards, the last round involves both players drawing and discarding only one card each.
This game is a balance between having a good hand early on (in case Mr. Jesus shows up sooner) and aiming for a higher-ranking hand later on (in case Mr. Jesus takes his damn time).
