Hi, this is the place to comment on the completed travel galleries.

Ah ha ha! I'm first.

Looks good Damon. Is there any chance you will be giving a running commentary on the photos or are you just gonna talk about them here when people ask? When you showed these to me earlier some of them had really interesting stories.

Good stuff.

Aan`allein   Nov 1, 2004 5:54:22 AM

*gasps*

*goes browse*

Aan`allein   Nov 1, 2004 6:06:28 AM

Ooh, you actually saw the pope?! Nifty!

I wonder if anyone will actually comment on the thing that I won't give away but is quite noticeable if you look at all your pics. :P

Damon   Nov 1, 2004 7:11:23 AM

Um, it was too much work to just get the pictures named and up Mo, so I think I'll save the stories for after people have asked. After all, there's a story behind almost every one of the 290-odd pics.

I should also mention that there are some places that were neat but that I don't have a lot of photos of: Berlin, for example, was too much fun for me to stop to take a pic; no good pictures came from Amsterdam as well, unfortunately. In many cases I have other sources of info than pictures (Scandinavia, which was awesome, is mostly represented by postcards, which I don't think I'm allowed to scan in). So you'll all have to visit to get the full story :)

Aan, yes, I did meet the Pope, I have the pictures to prove it! I have to admit, though, that whatever you're talking about is not at all obvious to me *grin*

Captain Roberto T. Fruitbat   Nov 1, 2004 11:51:22 AM

Haven´t looked at all the pictures yet (I´m in an internet cafe because my computer died and isn´t fixed yet) but I have to say this - I love the Ankara police basement photo, hehe !!!

Aan`allein   Nov 2, 2004 6:46:44 AM

The obvious thing is something you once told me/complained to me about, namely a fear of people noticing something if/when you'd post all your pictures...

Damon   Nov 2, 2004 8:35:15 AM

Um, that my camera is lousy? *grin*

AJ   Nov 2, 2004 9:57:46 PM

Gorgeous photos Damon!

I feel like I'm going quite green with envy :)
It must have been a fantastic experience to see all those different cultures and all those famous landmarks.

and your camera looks like it takes great photos :)

Aan`allein   Nov 3, 2004 5:15:38 AM

Paah! I'll just point it out when someone makes the comment. If no one does, then on December 1 I'll go ahead and give it away for the glory of further embarassment or something like that. :P

Charlotte   Nov 3, 2004 12:39:41 PM

Is there a prize? ;-) I remember Damon saying something about something that would embarrass him, but what I'm thinking of doesn't involve all pictures, just some.

Maladroit   Nov 3, 2004 5:21:52 PM

Bad haircut?

He seems to prefer to have sky in all his shots?

Only two extra changes of clothes?

Damon   Nov 3, 2004 8:25:29 PM

Bad haircut? Gee, thanks *grin*

It must be about the lack of changes of clothes, because I'm not wearing the ugly hat in any of these pictures (although you can see its shadow in Ephesus on the ancient advertisement).

Charlotte   Nov 4, 2004 2:42:23 AM

*nods* Clothes, or lack of, *he he* was what I remember you commenting about.

Aan   Nov 4, 2004 5:37:37 AM

*nods* The clothes it was. "same t-shirt in every picture" (in which damon actually appears).
So yeah, I meant the "all" as "after having looked at them all", not that it would be evident in every single one.

Maladroit   Nov 4, 2004 1:20:05 PM

Well, it was either bad haircut or a comment on the size of your feet...both made up guesses, of course.

So, where's my cookie! No? Gold Star!? Pat on the back!?!?

Still very much jealous of your trip, and appreciate the time you took to share your photos. They are gorgeous - Thanks Damon!

Damon   Nov 5, 2004 7:37:19 PM

Sorry, it was Aan's challenge so it's up to him to provide the gold stars, cookie rewards, and related paraphernalia.

And thank you for the compliments, everyone; I certainly enjoyed this trip and I anticipate going on another one in the future.

speckel bumb   Nov 13, 2004 4:27:28 AM

fraZer   Feb 28, 2005 5:41:22 AM

Thank You

leprechaun   Mar 6, 2005 3:23:36 AM

Damn smarch weather.

FraZer   Mar 8, 2005 10:57:36 AM

You shoudl Realy see your own Country before you go of and have fun in another. Can you honestly tell me that you have been to gore?

Aan   Mar 14, 2005 3:49:48 AM

Damon is something of a fount of knowledge on Gore. Just two weeks ago he was telling me all sorts of interesting details on the various forms of entertainment available in that most exciting place. Surely this means that he has actually been there himself?

(I myself only passed through Gore by bus on a random sunday morning, so I didn't have a true idea of what it was like.)

Football head   Mar 15, 2005 1:37:39 AM

haha good old gay mans gore!

Aan   Mar 15, 2005 2:53:08 AM

Is it me, or are the commenters in this place getting decidedly weird(er)?

Ethil the Pirates Daughter   Mar 17, 2005 12:25:03 PM

I think that It would be a good time for a new Post By Damon.

trnsforming mtafysical kitten   Mar 17, 2005 11:27:45 PM

the prssure increazis!

Ethil the Pirates Daughter   Mar 23, 2005 3:28:27 AM

How much longer are you goign to wait?

Damon   Mar 26, 2005 2:41:39 PM

Heh, I'm surprised people are still hanging around here! The poster of the weird comments, Aan, is one of my brothers, and believe it or not it all actually makes sense. He's quoting a jumble of Simpsons, Lord of the Rings MTV Awards parody, and local comedians.

Incidentally, I am going on another trip! Not travelling around as much this time, but I will hopefully be providing trip reports and various (not-so-)witty observations just as I did for the European / Asian thing. In a couple of months, for a couple of months...

March Madness   Mar 31, 2005 9:06:59 AM
